MAY 31 “THE PROMISE OF PROTECTION”

Topic:  “THE PROMISE OF PROTECTION ”

Text: Exodus 12:11-4

Memory Verse: “ And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where you are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt” – Exodus 12:13.

In our text for today, God promised to “pass over” the homes of the Israelites who applied the blood of the slain lamb to their doorposts. This act of obedience would spare the lives of the firstborn sons from the angel of death.

It is worthy of note that this promise of protection is not limited to the Israelites; it extends to all who put their faith in the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ. In Hebrews 11:28, Moses is said to have kept the Passover, “So that the destroyer of the firstborn would not touch them.” Notice that the blood of the lamb provided a protective barrier, shielding the Israelites from God’s judgment.

It is important to note that the effectiveness of the blood of the animal as far as the protection of the Israelites is concerned, is dependent of their obedience to God’s instruction to apply the blood upon their doorposts. In other words, it is only when the instruction given by God is obeyed, and the blood applied, that death is prevented. Considering the nature and attitude of some Israelites, one can say categorically that some of them did not apply the blood, and eventually they died even though they were God’s children.

Beloved, it is possible that you go to church; praise and worship God as others do; give your tithe and offering to God through the church and belong to an organization and committee in the church. However, if you do not have Jesus Christ in your life as Lord and Saviour, God’s judgment can still catch up with you. Jesus Christ is the only provision made by God against the coming judgment. Have you received Him (applied the blood) in your life as your Lord and Saviour? Judgment day is coming.

PRAYER: Dear heavenly father, please come into my life as Lord and Saviour. Save me from your coming judgment in Jesus’ name, Amen.
