Topic: “THE SIGNIFICANCE OF HIS RESURRECTION POWER- OUR FAITH”
Text: 1 Cor 15:1-4
Memory Verse: “For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures” – 1 Cor 15:3-4 ((NKJV).
One of the distinguishing elements of the Christian faith is the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, as clearly stated by Apostle Paul in our text of today.
The centrality of this theme was a matter of priority in the mind of Paul as he sought to help the believers in Corinth to understand the basis of their faith, and to enjoy an intimate relationship with Christ.
Indeed, there will be no Christianity without these experiences of Jesus (i.e. His death, burial and resurrection). Thanks be to God, death could not keep Him captive, He arose from the grace and lives for evermore.
The preaching of the Gospel would have amounted to an exercise in futility and left us without hope if Jesus had not risen from the dead:
“And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty. Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up—if in fact the dead do not rise” 1 Cor 15:14-15
“For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty” 2 Peter 1:16
“If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.” 1 Cor !5:19
The basis of our Christian faith is anchored on the resurrection of Jesus Christ and has value for eternity. This confident hope should stir our hearts to be deeply committed and to walk with Him as we look forward to His glorious appearance to take us home on the last day.
PRAYER: Thank you, Lord, for paying the full price for my redemption, and because you live, I shall live also in the power of your resurrection, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
