Topic: “THE SIGNIFICANCE OF HIS RESURRECTION POWER – OUR SALVATION”
Text: 1 Colossians 2:9-15
Memory Verse: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” – 1 Peter 1:3.
As we have seen in our previous reflections, God took the primary initiative in restoring the fallen man into His glorious image.
The entrance of sin into the world brought enmity between God and man, thus making man naturally an object of wrath, being consumed by sinful pleasure. Eph 2:1-3
However, the resurrection of Jesus Christ marked His triumphant victory over sin and all its attendant consequences. It is upon this victory that every believer in Christ stands. If Jesus had not risen from the dead, we would have still been under the yoke of sin, unable to be freed from its lust and passion. 1Cor 15:17.
Salvation is available to all who will openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised Him from the dead, Rom. 10:9. This therefore goes further to show that it is impossible to lay claim to believing in Christ without believing in His resurrection or the power thereof.
This life transforming experience comes only by the resurrection power of Christ through the Holy Spirit, as we place our faith in His finished work, Eph. 2:8-9.
Christ’s resurrection plays the pivotal role in our being born again as we share with Him in His death on the cross, as well as in His resurrected life by which we are empowered to live over and above sin. Rom 6:2-3.
PRAYER: Lord, I would have been eternally lost and condemned on account of my sin, but your grace found me, and so I remain eternally grateful for your love. Thank you for saving me, Amen.
