Topic:  “INTIMACY AND SPIRITUAL WARFARE IN THE CHURCH – UNFAITHFULNESS.“

Text: Luke 12:41-48

Memory Verse: “So Saul died for his unfaithfulness; he is unfaithful to the Lord in that he did not keep the command of the Lord, and also consulted a medium, seeking guidance, and did not seek guidance from the Lord. Therefore, the Lord showed him, and turned the Kingdom over to David the son of Jesse.” 1 Chronicles 10:13-14.

A story is told of a young man who came to know the Lord early in his life. He progressed beautifully in his faith; a shining example to other young people in the church. He was very intimate with Christ, serving the Lord beautifully. The Lord blessed him spiritually, financially, emotionally and he enjoyed good health. He got a very good job which gave the opportunity to travel to many countries of the world and was highly favoured. He got married and his family was blessed with three lovely children. He was a young man that any Christian parent would love to have as a child.

Later in life, the pressure of his Job and family commitments started to affect his spiritual life. He was no more regular at fellowship meetings; his effectiveness was waning. His contributions to the life of the church had gone down considerably. His level of faithfulness was discouraging. All attempts to encourage him, advising him was to no avail. Christians should be careful, because friendship with the world is enmity with God. Whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God – James 4:4.

Unfaithfulness is not limited to Christian services. Christians can be unfaithful in giving of tithes and offering. When we seek solutions to life’s problems from other sources apart from God, this is unfaithfulness. It happens in our marriages when we are not faithful to our wives or our husbands.

God hates unfaithfulness, as our memory verse says, Saul lost his life because he was not faithful. It is a spiritual warfare in the lives of many Christians.

PRAYER: My dear heavenly Father, unfaithfulness is tantamount to being a traitor. Help me not to fall into the temptation of being unfaithful to you in Jesus’ name, Amen
