Text: Philippians 2: 1- 11, John 15:13

Memory Verse: … And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death – even death on the cross.  Philippians 2: 7-8

Jesus paid the ultimate price of submitting Himself to the death on the cross of Calvary, the ultimate price for mankind. To truly appreciate how deeply Jesus loves us, we need to understand just how much He sacrificed – not only when He died on the Cross, but every day He lived in this sin-wracked world. We need to think about the fact that He left the unspeakable glories of heaven where He had lived for ever. He gave up the divine spiritual form that enabled Him to be omnipresent and omniscient.

Jesus gave up all above, not only that, He took the risk of going to hell, even though no one had done before. What if something went wrong. What could make someone take such a risk? Love alone. The love was intentional, deliberate. He had a vision, that drove Him throughout His lifetime.

He admonished us to love the brethren as He has loved us. We should not allow our attained mortal glories of this world, wealth and stature in the society, to create a gap between us and the church He died for.

It was said of John D. Rockefeller, that though he was the first billionaire in the U.S, he had monopoly of the Oil and Gas industry in the U.S. in his lifetime, nevertheless, he was a janitor and a Sunday school teacher in his church. We had in NEBC, men and women of stature in the society, one of whom was Dn. Gamaliel Onosode, Chairman of 26 companies, that included commercial banks, oil and gas etc. yet, he served faithfully as an usher in the church.

PRAYER: Eph 3:17. That I will be rooted and established in love in my service in the church.
