Topic: “HOW DO WE LAY DOWN OUR LIVES FOR THE CHURCH, LOOK OUT FOR THE INTEREST OF OTHERS?“
Text: Romans 5:5
Memory Verse: …… because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has us. Romans 5:5.
To effectively love others, you must first believe God loves you. Knowing it is not enough, we also need to believe it. To believe means to have firm faith in something; to accept it is as true, genuine, or real; to have an unshakeable conviction of its goodness, efficacy and ability.
We should be firmly grounded in that love; we cannot give what we do not have. No matter what anyone says or does to us, we should rest securely in the fact that we are fully and forever loved. We have the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak. We should have faith in the word of God that we can love like Christ loves us. It is a command … “Love your neighbor as yourself”
The verse above clearly shows that we do not depend on our strength to live the life of love; God provides continuously, the grace to love others. We need to develop this love of God in us to be a blessing to the church of God.
There are times when we encounter such trials and difficulties that, naturally speaking, it would not look like God cares about us and to love others is the last thing that comes to mind. However, that is the time to not depend on feelings but to look at the word … “the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts” and we can love the unlovable.
PRAY AND MEDITATE on 1 John 3:1 “Behold what manner of love the Father has for us …” and get a revelation of the word. The love of God will become a reality in your life.
