Topic: “PEACE THROUGH OBEDIENCE“
Text: Daniel 6:1-22
Memory Verse: “”But Samuel replied: ‘Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams. For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He has rejected you as king” – 1 Samuel 15: 22-23.
Daniel’s story exemplifies peace through obedience. Despite the threat of persecution, Daniel remained faithful, praying to God openly. His obedience brought peace, and God miraculously protected him in the lions’ den.
One important issue to consider before taking any action in life’s journey is the motive for such action. Who takes the glory of the outcome of your actions, self or God? Once the question is sincerely considered and correctly answered, then you will definitely have peace.
In today’s text, Daniel did not openly pray so as to disregard the king’s order, but he prayed in line with his usual manner in order to honour God, self ego was not in the equation and this brought glory to God, as a result, Daniel was in turn honoured by God.
In today’s world system, it is very easy to be politically correct by following the crowd, however, we must remember that the narrow way is the way that leads to eternal life. God can never lower His standards because of an earthly majority.
Dare to be a Daniel by taking the following steps: –
1.Trust God’s promise for protection and place Him above all others in spite of opposition (Psalm 91:1-2)
- Stand firm, let people know who you are at all times, who you are in the Church should not be different from who you are in the Market place, just have a single personality not a dual personality (Daniel 6:10).
PRAYER: Lord, give me the courage to obey You, even when it is difficult. Help me trust in Your protection and provision. Fill me with Your peace, Amen.
