Topic:  “HE GREW LIKE US – HUMANITY WITHOUT SIN“

Text: Hebrews 4:14-16; Luke 2:52

Memory Verse:  “For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin” Hebrews 4:15.

The purpose of Incarnation was not just redemptive but also demonstrative. He became human, growing from infancy to adulthood, learning to walk, speak, and work. He experienced hunger, tiredness, joy, grief, and even temptation. Yet, in all this, He never sinned and that is a vital part of our salvation. Only a sinless Saviour could take our place as the perfect sacrifice. His sinless life also means He fully understands our struggles, yet offers us the strength to overcome them. He is our Redeemer and our relatable High Priest who knows exactly how to help us in our time of need.

In Luke 2:52, we see that Jesus had all-round growth, He grew in every dimension: mentally (wisdom), physically (stature), spiritually (favor with God), and socially (favor with men). His growth is an example for us. The Son of God modeled full dependence on the Father, victory over sin, dominion over evil forces of life and so are we to do by His life in us.

Are there current struggles with sin in your life? Thank Jesus for being able to relate to your struggles and pray for His strength to overcome temptations. Also reflect on which area of your life needs the most growth: wisdom, stature, favor with God, or favor with men, then seek help from your church counsellors if need be.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, thank You for entering fully into human life and showing me how to live. Thank You for understanding my weaknesses and offering me grace. Help me grow in every area of my life as You did, and keep me walking in Your purity in Your name, Amen.
