Topic:  “AN EXPRESSION OF THE FATHER“

Text: John 14:7-11; John 5:19-23

Memory Verse: “…He who has seen Me has seen the Father…” John 14:9.

We were made to be God’s incarnates, making visible the image of the invisible God. Man was made to live in the very image of God, mirroring His likeness in all he did before sin came to destroy that image. So, Jesus came with a divine agenda to perfectly epitomize the Father and reconnect us to the nature we lost due to sin. Every miracle, every act of compassion, every word of truth was a direct expression of God’s character.

In John 14:8, when “Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us”, Jesus was puzzled and responded with a concerned question. “Jesus said to him, ‘Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?’” (John 14:9). When He healed the leper, it was the Father’s hand touching the untouchable. When He forgave the sinner, it was the Father’s voice speaking mercy. When He wept at Lazarus’ tomb, it was the Father’s tears for His children’s pain.

Many imagine God as distant, harsh, or indifferent. Jesus came to correct that false image as He went about doing good (Acts 10:38) by the anointing. He has commissioned us to do the same, “as the Father has sent Me, I also send you” (John 20:21). Our lives should reflect God’s power, compassion, truth, and love. We are not living for show, but if we live well, it will show (Matthew 5:16). Be the Jesus in your neighbourhood.

PRAYER: Father, thank You for sending Jesus to reveal who You truly are. Open my eyes to see Your heart in His words and actions and let men do the same in mine in Jesus’ name, Amen.
