DECEMBER 19: “GRACE CAME WITH CHRISTMAS”

Topic:  “GRACE CAME WITH CHRISTMAS“

Text: John 1:6-18

Memory Verse:  “And of His fullness have all we received, and grace for grace” – John 1:16.

Christmas season is a time to remind ourselves of God’s grace as demonstrated through His profound gift of His one and only son, Jesus Christ, to save mankind from eternal condemnation. We were undeserving of this great grace that is unmerited favour, but it demonstrated God’s love and His redemption plan.

Here are a few examples of God’s grace out of so many:

  • God’s love is unconditional. It is not earned or deserved, it is given freely to all those who believe and trust in the completed work of our Lord Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary – Eph 2:8-9.
  • Redemption and forgiveness – the birth of our Lord and Saviour revealed God’s plan of redemption from sin and its accompanying consequences. This is God, offering us forgiveness, a clean slate and hope of eternal life – Gal 4:4-5.
  • Service in humility – the reality of Christmas teaches every disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ to emulate His example of humility and life of service; by extending grace to others through acts of compassion and genuine kindness – I Peter 4:10 and Phil 2:3.
  • All believers through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ receive a new nature by being empowered to live godly, (god-fearing) upright and self-controlled lives for Him. Titus 2:11-12, 2 Cor. 5:17.

PRAYER: Father, may I extend the grace I have enjoyed with you toward my brothers and sisters, and may others see your new life in me, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
