Topic: “CHRISTMAS IS PROMISE KEPT“
Text: Habakkuk 2:3
Memory Verse: “For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie; though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry” – Habakkuk 2:3.
Is Christmas promise kept? Who made the promise? This is what we will look at today. This topic resonates deeply with the faith. God’s promise of an offspring of the woman who will crush the serpent’s head in Gen 3:15 was perfectly and finally fulfilled in Jn 3:16. Therefore, the promise made by God was kept!
It is crucial to note that God’s promise to send a Saviour was kept and it is through the birth of the Lord at Christmas. Indeed, love came down at Christmas. Redemption and forgiveness were offered by no other than the Promise Keeper – God Almighty.
Another point is that through Christmas (His divine birth), there is faith and hope. The disciples of Christ are constantly reminded of God’s faithfulness to His promise. If He said it, then He will definitely do it.
Finally, believing in the Lord Jesus and abiding in (living out) His word grants us eternal life. We can therefore conclude that Christmas is more than a yearly celebration but a reminder of God’s promise kept. We are reminded of God’s love and His redemption plan which clearly brings hope, joy and peace of reconciliation. When we embrace this promise of God, we can deepen our faith, living out the true meaning of Christmas.
PRAYER: We offer our gratitude to you, our Father, cause us to give You our wholehearted devotion in Jesus’ name, Amen.
