Topic: “SIGNIFICANT BLESSINGS OF CHRISTMAS – I“
Text: Luke 2:1-20
Memory Verse: “And the angel said unto them, fear not; for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people” – Luke 2:10.
God in His infinite wisdom and mercy has been gracious and kind to mankind, in spite of man’s disobedience and rebellion. The birth and coming of the Lord Jesus were and still are God’s flag of peace and mercy to the world. The blessing of Christmas to mankind over the ages in the light of God’s holy word are as listed below:
- Hope and redemption – his birth symbolizes hope for mankind, hope of salvation and promise of eternal life with Him (God). Therefore, offering redemption to a fallen and condemned world.
- Love/Compassion – this is demonstrated in a holy and righteous God, demonstrating the selfless act of love and compassion by not thinking of Himself but offering His one and only Son whom He loves as a ransom for a hopeless
- Reconciliation and peace – mankind was estranged from God, but the coming of our Lord Jesus bridged the chasm in reconciliation and brought peace and harmony.
- Salvation and forgiveness – the Lord’s coming initiated God’s eternal plan of salvation by offering forgiveness through the finished work of the cross of Jesus Christ to all who believe and trust in Him.
- Inspiring worship and gratitude – when we can understand the depth of God’s sacrificial plan in the incarnation, it will surely motivate gratitude worship and that deep desire to share the Christmas message with others.
PRAYER: Lord God, keep my heart grateful in all circumstances, knowing all you have done and given me in the person of Jesus Christ. Thank you, Father, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
