MARCH 3: OBEDIENCE TO GOD’S WILL 1

DATE: Tuesday, 03 March 2026
TOPIC: “OBEDIENCE TO GOD’S WILL 1”
TEXT: Hebrews 5: 7-10
MEMORY VERSE: “Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered” – Hebrews 5:8 (ESV)

Obedience is following instructions, rules, or commands without question. It is simply compliance and discipline. You cannot walk in alignment with God without obedience. Obedience in this context must be complete according to 2Corinthians 10:6 which states the need for complete obedience. According to scriptures, complete obedience is the prerequisite for victory.
God honours obedience more than our sacrifices according to 1Samuel 15:22. Samuel told Saul that God was more interested in obedience than sacrifices presented in disobedience. You cannot be disobedient to God and expect Him to accept your sacrifice. God is not man; He cannot be bribed or cajoled to lower His standard with regards to obedience. The evidence that Jesus our perfect example walked in alignment with God’s will was His complete obedience. The scriptures say that He learnt obedience through the things He suffered. He did not complain or stop half-way because of the things He suffered, rather, the things He suffered motivated Him to obey to the end.
How many times have you grumbled, murmured or refused to carry out some specific instructions from God because of some unpleasant circumstances surrounding the situations? If you must walk in alignment with God, get ready to endure to the end because Jesus confirms this in Matthew 24:13 by saying, ‘He that endures to the end will be saved’. He came to identify with our weakness and to show us how to live in alignment with God through obedience. He was obedient to His parents as highlighted in Luke 2:51 in that He was submissive to them; He was also obedient to authority and admonishes us to do same in Matthew 22:21 and Mark 12:17 saying “Render therefore unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s” (KJV).
Make up your mind today to walk in alignment with God in complete obedience to His will and purpose for your life.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, give me the grace to walk in alignment with your purpose for my life in Jesus’ name, Amen.
