TOPIC: “ACKNOWLEDGING GOD AT THE CORRIDORS WHERE IT MATTERS”
TEXT: Genesis 41: 14 – 45
MEMORY VERSE: “Joseph answered Pharaoh, “It is not in me [to interpret the dream]; God [not I] will give Pharaoh a favourable answer [through me].” – Genesis 41:16
Joseph finally stood before Pharaoh—just as Proverbs 18:16 and 22:29 describe: a person’s gift making room for them and bringing them before kings. After years of obscurity, hardship and waiting, Joseph was now standing in the corridor of destiny. Pharaoh acknowledged his reputation: “I have heard it said about you that you can understand a dream and interpret it.” This was Joseph’s moment. This was the platform his gift had prepared him for.
Yet Joseph’s response reveals the depth of his walk with God. Instead of claiming the ability for himself, he redirected the glory immediately: “It is not in me… God will give Pharaoh the answer.” Joseph refused to let the spotlight shift his posture. He refused to let praise settle on him. He refused to let the gift overshadow the Giver.
This is the heart posture God desires from us when doors open, when opportunities come and when our gifts begin to speak. The question is not whether we are gifted—God has already placed gifts within us. The question is: when we finally stand where it matters, who gets the glory?
- Do we subtly take credit for what God empowered?
- Do we make it seem like our strength, wisdom, or skill produced the result?
- Do we forget the One who carried us through the dungeon seasons?
God will never share His glory with any man. The gifts He gives, the platforms He opens and the opportunities He orchestrates must never become idols in our hearts. Pride is subtle—it grows quietly when success comes loudly. Joseph teaches us to remain grounded, humble and God‑centred even when elevated.
Beloved, remember: “It is in Him we live and move and have our being.” Everything you are, have and everything we become is by His grace. Let your rising never silence your reverence. Let your gift never overshadow your God. Let every achievement return as worship to the One who made it possible.
PRAYER: Lord, do not let pride take me over. Give me the grace to return all glory back to You at all times, Amen.
