TOPIC: “FAITH WITHOUT WORKS AND WORKS WITHOUT FAITH”
TEXT: Nehemiah 4:15-23
MEMORY VERSE: “They which builded on the wall and they that bare burdens, with those that laded, everyone with one of his hands wrought in the work and with the other handheld a weapon.” Nehemiah 4:17”
There is nothing hidden from our God, He sees, hears, feels and knows everything. There’s nothing that the enemy is planning against you that is hidden from God. Our Father, our ‘God is a God of gods and a Lord of kings and a revealer of secrets…’ ‘And it came to pass, when our enemies heard that it was known unto us and God had brought their counsel to nought, that we returned all of us to the wall, everyone unto his work.’
Nehemiah and his people knew that God would fight for them. God can also mobilize angels to do the work more perfectly. However, He wants His children to pray fervently and work diligently, because faith without works is dead. Prayers without dynamism and diligence would make God’s children lazy and weak. Hard work without faith tends towards arrogance. It makes people think that they do not need God.
A good Christian is a practical person of faith, a priest, a laborer and a soldier. This is why every worker is a prayer warrior that is also carrying physical or practical weapons. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but they are spiritual and military. These paradoxes are not contradictory.
God’s people are not to be cake cooked only on one side, He wants us to be balanced and fully equipped. Nonetheless, we must never lean on our own understanding. He is our sufficiency and our trust should always be in Him.
PRAYER: Our Almighty Father, we know that you are the supreme and ultimate warrior. We commit our struggles and battles unto you. Help us to build our lives, careers, businesses, families, and above all, your Kingdom, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
