AUGUST 17: “ LITTLE LIES THAT LEAD TO BIG PROBLEMS ”

DATE: Monday 17 August  2026

TOPIC:  “LITTLE LIES THAT LEAD TO BIG PROBLEMS”

TEXT: Luke 16:10

MEMORY VERSE:  “Let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ be ‘No’ – Matthew 5:37

People lie for many reasons, fear of punishment, embarrassment, desire for approval, avoiding conflict, or trying to gain advantage. Some call them “small lies” or “white lies,” but lies rarely remain small. One lie often creates another.
God calls His children to live differently.

You do not need to protect a false image. You belong to God and have been bought with a price (1 Corinthians 6:20). Your identity is secure in Him.

Colossians 3:9 reminds us not to lie to one another, since we have put off the old self. Truthfulness reflects the nature of God, because it is impossible for Him to lie (Hebrews 6:18).

Truth may feel costly in the moment, but lies cost far more in the end. Lie damages trust, weaken character and disturb peace.

Faithfulness begins in small things. If you are honest in little matters, you build strength for greater tests.

Today’s Reflection:
Are there areas where you exaggerate, hide facts, or bend the truth?

Today’s Action:
Practice complete honesty in one conversation today.

PRAYER: Lord, make me a person of truth. Help my words be sincere, trustworthy and clean. Give me courage to speak honestly, even when it feels uncomfortable, Amen.
