DATE: Friday 04 September  2026

TOPIC:  “LUST – WHEN PIECES OF YOU ARE GIVEN AWAY”

TEXT: Colossians 3:1-6

MEMORY VERSE:  “Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry” – Colossians 3:5 NIV.

Innocence is not about never doing anything—it is about doing it in time and with the right person, everything done according to time and season.

Many of us wish we could take back certain decisions we made if we had known where they would lead. The truth is, every choice takes something from you or adds something to you. Initially we believed in painted a facade of no consequences, but soon enough they begin to catch up with us.

Lust opens your spirit to oppression and brings your spiritual defences down. In lust, we give pieces of ourselves away—little by little—through untimely relationships, experiences and moments that were never meant to last.

I cannot speak for everyone, but I have always felt that some experiences are meant to happen with the one person you will spend your life with. So, when I experienced some things too early, it changed something. It made me feel as if something was already gone and anything after that would be in comparison with what I gave away.

We usually feel the pain of consequence when we recognise what could have been, that particular moment you can see what the right situation actually was, you realise how much you have lost or given away.

We wake up realizing and questioning why we ventured too early into certain things, we look at our scars and are filled with regret.

For those who have been wounded by lustful desires, the question becomes: how do you love fully when parts of you feel worn, used, or broken?

Understand that in Christ, everything old and broken becomes new.

This realization should make us more careful—more protective—of ourselves and our relationships. This is because not everything should be experienced just because you can. Rather, everything should be done intentionally.

PRAYER: Create in me a new heart and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Let everything broken or lost in my life be restored in Jesus’ name, Amen.
