SEPTEMBER 03: “LUST – THE SILENCE AROUND DESIRE”

DATE: Thursday 03 September  2026

TOPIC:  “LUST – THE SILENCE AROUND DESIRE”

TEXT: Matthew 15:14

MEMORY VERSE:  “Leave them; they are blind guides. If the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit” – Matthew 15:14 NIV.

What is God’s desire for your body? What is truly acceptable in His eyes?

Many of us grew up in homes where certain desires were never talked about—they were labelled as wrong, shameful, or completely forbidden. Because of this, when these desires begin to grow in us, we do not run to guidance—we hide.

Instead of seeking wisdom, we turn to our peers, people who are just as confused as we are. Yet, the Bible says clearly: the blind cannot lead the blind, because both will fall (Matthew 15:14).

That is the reality of our generation.

I remember finishing school and preparing for university. Coming from an all-boys school, all I wanted was to be around girls and I ensured that I was. However, with that came strong desires—desires that led me into things I initially felt ashamed of.

At first, there is always shame.

Nevertheless, over time, that shame fades. Not because what we are doing becomes right, but because we become used to it and we silence the voice of the Holy Spirit because we can no longer bear the weight of guilt.

Seek wisdom on matter you do not understand, be honest with yourself and do not cover up your desires in silence, shame and ignorance.

Understand that sin thrives in darkness, a lot of people—young and old—are dying in silence of desires they do not understand. We need to stop hiding and speak out so we can receive help.

PRAYER: Father, help me not to cover up my sin and sinful desires, I confess them today. Help to open up and seek help, Amen
