SEPTEMBER 12: “VEHICLES OF SIN”

DATE: Saturday 12  September  2026

TOPIC:  “VEHICLES OF SIN”

TEXT: Hebrews 12:1-3

MEMORY VERSE:  “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us” – Hebrews 12:1 NIV.

A close friend once asked me, “Would you say lack of discipline is a sin?” From there, we went into a series of discussions that eventually led us to what we called the “vehicles of sin”—and we identified many of them.

There are habits, mindsets, and patterns we carry that make it easy to remain in sin and keep falling back into it. Sometimes, we wonder what exactly is wrong? “I have prayed, I have fasted, yet I am still making the same mistakes.” It is as if standing at a bus stop for buses going to Ikorodu and saying you do not want to go there. Eventually, one of those buses will take you there.

Vehicles of sin are the things in our lives that do not align with the nature of God. Many of them sit quietly in our subconscious—subtle enough to ignore, yet powerful enough to shape the course of our lives. Things such as lack of care, disguised as nonchalance. Laziness, disguised as “I just do not like stress.” Indiscipline, disguised as comfort. Irresponsibility, disguised as “minding my business.”

These things can keep a man bound. Sometimes, the issue is not that you have not been freed—it is that you have grown comfortable with your chains. You have made them part of who you are. So even though you are free, you remain stuck.

We must be intentional about identifying these subtle patterns.

Look at how you relate with others—your spouse, your colleagues, your children. Are you leading well, or hiding behind excuses? Do you hold grudges, forgetting you were forgiven first? How do you handle responsibility, correction and authority? Do you seek control when God is asking for surrender? The list goes on—and I am not exempt. I am still growing, just as you are.

So here is the question for today: What nature am I expressing—the nature of God, or the nature of the flesh?

Apply this question to everything.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to express the nature of Christ in my work, in my marriage, in my home and in every aspect of my life. Rid me of every ungodly nature I carry, Amen.
