SEPTEMBER 18: “ONE MASTER, ONE HEART”

DATE: Friday 18  September  2026

TOPIC:  “ONE MASTER, ONE HEART”

TEXT: Matthew 6:24

MEMORY VERSE:  “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money” – Matthew 6:24 (NIV).

We live in a world that celebrates multitasking. Everyone wants to do many things at once, to chase multiple goals, to secure different streams of success. However, if we are honest, multitasking often divides our focus. It may look productive, but it can quietly steal our attention and devotion.

The Bible makes it clear; you cannot serve two masters. At some point, your loyalty will lean in one direction. Even in everyday life, when people juggle multiple priorities, there is always one that takes first place. One gets the best energy, the deepest commitment and the highest obedience.

So, the question becomes simple but serious: who truly has your heart?

Many of us find ourselves chasing things, bigger houses, nicer cars, the latest gadgets and a more comfortable life. However, in that pursuit, it is easy to lose sight of purpose. We begin to serve what we were never meant to serve.

God is not against progress, but He is against misplaced devotion.

The truth is, many of the things we chase do not satisfy. They promise fulfillment, but leave us empty. Yet, when we spend time with God in prayer or worship, there is a peace that rises within us, quiet, steady and real. It is something material things can never replicate.

God offers a peace that surpasses human understanding. It is not earned by possessions, but received through trust.

Today, choose your focus. Choose your master. Choose the One who not only provides your needs, but gives your life meaning.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to fix my heart on You. Teach me to choose You above every distraction and to find my true fulfillment in You alone, Amen.
