May 16: GOD MADE MAN FOR FELLOWSHIP

Topic: GOD MADE MAN FOR FELLOWSHIP

Text: Gen1: 26 – 31

Memory Verse: “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created he him: male and female created he them.” Gen. 1: 27

For the next few days, we shall be considering the topic “Building Intimacy with God.” We will look at individuals who are intimate with God and how they achieved it so that we can learn from them.

The first person we will be looking at is Adam.

Adam became intimate with God simply by God’s decision. In our text today, we read that God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.” This shows that God choose to make Man differently than all other creation of His, whom He merely spoke into existence.

He formed Man from the dust of the earth and the Bible says “and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul.”

God chose to share His very breath with Man, thus establishing an intimacy with Man which is not shared with any other creature. In order for Man to maintain the unique position God gave us, we must cultivate the intimacy that He intends that we have with Him or else we become just like any ordinary animal. Without this intimacy symbolized by the Breath of Life, Man would be a dead soul, so we must strive at all times to fan the flames of intimacy with God through daily communion in Bible study, meditation in His word and prayers. So that we may fulfill His plan for us.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for making me in your likeness, thank you for sharing with me the breath of life. Help me to be in communion with you daily in Jesus’ name. Amen
