Topic: KINDNESS BUILDS INTIMACY WITH GOD
Text: Gen18: 1 – 10
Memory Verse: “And he lift up his eyes and looked, and lo three men stood by him; and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself towards the ground.”Gen. 18: 2
Today. we continue to look at the life of Abraham, to learn the secret of his intimacy with God. In our text today three strangers were passing by Abraham’s house, and he ran and pleaded with them to come into his house to be refreshed before continuing their journey. In this show of kindness, unbeknownst to Him, he invited God’s angels to come and eat in his house. God Himself is the One that is compassionate and shows loving kindness and tender mercies to people. No wonder a kindhearted man is dear to Him .
In Matt. 25:31 – 40, we see the Lord Jesus Christ showing us what Judgment Day will look like. The Lord shall separate the people, some to the right and others to the left. Then He will commend those on the right saying “for I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger and ye took me in: naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick and ye visited me. I was in prison, and ye came unto me.” Matt. 25:15-36
The righteous will ask when they did all these things and the Lord will reply “In as much as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it to me”.
This shows us that the Lord places great importance on acts of kindness and will repay them generously. Prov.19:17 also say, “He that has pity on the poor lends to the Lord and that which he has given he will pay him again”.
Showing kindness is an expression of the loving heart of God which He has allowed us human beings to partake of. The more intimate we are with God the more compassionate we become as His love flows out through us.
Prayer:
Oh Lord, please impart your compassion to my heart. Forgive my callous acts and help me to be hospitable in Jesus’ name. Amen
