Topic: FAITH: THE KEY TO GOD’S HEART
Text: Heb. 11:5 – 6
Memory Verse: “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Heb. 11:6
A key component of building intimacy with God that we will look at today is Faith. Our text today tells us that without it, it is impossible to please God. We will look at two people who definitely pleased God. The first is from our text today and that is Enoch. He walked with God so intimately that God took him away without dying. He had the testimony, we are told, that he pleased God. Not much is written about Enoch in the Bible but the little there is, is profound. He pleased God. Remember that we were made to give pleasure to God. So, he surely fulfilled this purpose. But without faith he could not have fulfilled this purpose.
The other person we will look at is Abraham the father of Faith. The Lord promised Abraham that he would have a child when everything natural showed that it was not possible and Abraham “believed in the Lord and God counted it to him for righteousness” Gen. 15:6. “He considered not his own body now dead, … neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb: he staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith giving glory to God” Rom. 4:19-20. No wonder God made a covenant with him to bless all nations through his seed.
God is moved by Faith and anyone who wants to be intimate with him must exercise Faith. You must believe every word that He says and not only believe, but you must act on His Word without wavering. This is very pleasing to the Lord.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I believe that you are and that you are faithful and full of compassion, I pray that you help my unbelief and teach me to trust in you with all my heart in Jesus’ name. Amen
