Topic: DO YOU DESIRE INTIMACY WITH GOD
Text: Deut. 6:3 – 5
Memory Verse: “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all your might.” Deut 36:5
For the past few days, we have been considering the topic “Building Intimacy with God” and we have seen factors that promote intimacy with God and things that destroy intimacy with Him. In order to actualize closeness with God, however, there must be a strong desire on our part.
A person who is intimate with God is a power house, he is a danger and threat to the devil and his authority on earth, so it is a given fact that the devil will do anything to prevent men and women from being close to God. Therefore, there is opposition to overcome in our desire to be intimate with God. To achieve success therefore, we must rely heavily on the Word of God. He has given us many, great promises to encourage us to approach Him.
He said if we seek Him with all our hearts, we will find Him (Jer. 29:13), He also said all that labour and are heavy laden should come to Him, He will give them rest (Matt. 11:28).
So, we have the assurance of His Word that He will do what He says. However, we need perseverance to wait for the manifestation of the promise of God. We must learn from the example of Abraham who had to wait for twenty-five years before the Word of the Lord came to pass in his life.
Furthermore, we must be bold like Elijah who challenged the prophets of Baal to a contest and defeated them. Finally, we must be determined and resolute like Elisha who would not turn back from his master until he got the double portion of the anointing he desired.

Father thank you for your invitation for us to come to you. Today I come to you and ask that you open my eyes to see you and follow you always in Jesus’ name. Amen
