Topic: Salvation: The foundation for spiritual Sensitivity
Text: Romans 6:23
Memory Verse: “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
When God created Man in the beginning, He created them in His image and likeness. He put them in the garden and gave them an instruction to eat from every tree in the garden except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The penalty for eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil was death. Unfortunately, Man disobeyed in chapter three and ate from the tree the Lord told him not to eat from. The moment this happened, Death occurred. Death here is first of all a spiritual death. Man (male and female) and his generation from that time forward became spiritually dead and inactive, thereby losing connection with God. That was the beginning of eternal separation between God and the unborn generations of Man. What colossal damage!
As a result of this death and separation, God sent His Son Jesus Christ to give us the gift of Eternal Life. Eternal death was brought to all generations of Man through Adam, while Eternal Life was brought to the future generations of Man by Faith; in the finished work of Christ on the Cross. This is the mystery of Salvation. Everyone who has not accepted this gift of Eternal Life in Christ Jesus is dead, darkened and hopeless.
Friend, it is important to ask you this foundational question: Have you accepted this life of God that Jesus brought through his Death on the Cross or are you just a Church goer? Have you repented from your sin and confessed Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour at any point in time? (Rom. 10:9-10). You must first of all receive the Life God has made provision for, before you can have access to His Spirit. This is the foundation for developing spiritual sensitivity.
