SEPTEMBER 16: THE SOURCE OF ALL GRACE

Topic: THE SOURCE OF ALL GRACE

Text: 1 Peter 5: 6-11

Memory Verse: But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.” 1Peter 5:10.

When God calls a man, He has a divine assignment in view which is expected to be fulfilled. It is Him alone that grants the enablement to accomplish such a task. In Phil 2:13, Apostle Paul declared that “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.”

However, many hardly come to the point of discovering what their own specific mandate in life is. Even more worrisome is the fact that those who seem to have found their purpose, fall into the error of believing that they can attain it all by themselves. Every time we forget the very one who has called and commissioned us, we risk the danger of falling out of His grace. We must continually focus on the Master of the Universe, the Giver of all grace, for it is not by might, nor by power, but by the Spirit (Zech 4:6). Jesus told His Disciples: “without me, you can do nothing” (John 15:5b).

It is imperative from our text to realise that everything about man can only be fully understood from the perspective of grace. Man is both a product and the object of God’s grace. Grace has its roots and true meaning only in God and no other. Thus, to understand grace in all its ramifications, we must of necessity focus on the Source of all grace. Apostle Paul declared: “But by the grace of God, I am what I am” (1 Cor 15:10).

Like the Songwriter, let us boldly declare that it is grace that brought us safe thus far, and grace will lead us home (Eph 1: 4-9, 2 These1.11-12).

Prayer: Father, I thank you that your grace located me. Please help me to grow in this grace, and make me fulfil the pleasure of your Will, in Jesus name. Amen.
