Topic: CHRONICLES OF MEN THAT FELL FROM GRACE: SAMSON
Text: JUDGES 16:20-21
Memory Verse: Judges 16:20 – “And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the Lord was departed from him”.
In delving into the Chronicles of Men that Fell from Grace, the narrative of Samson stands as a powerful example. Judges 16:20-21 unfolds the tragic episode of Samson, a man who was once endowed with supernatural strength because of God’s presence in his life. Samson’s life mirrors the profound impact of carrying God’s presence whose strength made him a wonder in his generation. However, his end came to view when he broke the strings of his consecration and fell from grace.
A careful examination of Samson’s story reveals that unequal yoking with strange women of the uncircumcised is one of the tragedies that befell him. Delilah, a sponsored agent of the philistines succeeded in cutting the seven locks of hair that symbolized the grace of God on his head leading to the departure of God’s anointing. Unfortunately, Samson who was once a terror to his enemies, found himself in captivity—his eyes gouged out, bound in bronze shackles, and became a sport in the stadium of the uncircumcised. What a tragic fall from grace.
Beloved, in reflecting upon the Chronicles of Men that Fell from Grace, Samson’s narrative beckons believers to cherish and protect the divine presence bestowed upon them by the grace of God and not allow sin and compromise jeopardize the grace of God over their lives. May we receive grace to not to fall from grace in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Commitment: Choose today to guard against compromising your consecration and consecrate your life to God, avoiding the pitfalls that led to Samson’s downfall.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, help me stay consecrated and devoted to Your ways. Illuminate my path, and strengthen me to resist the allure of worldly pleasures, Amen.
