Topic: DO NOT DELAY

Text: 2 Cor. 6:1-2; Isaiah 49:8

Memory Verse: For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:2 (NKJV)

Life is programmed within the framework of time, and this makes the activities of man to be governed within the rule of time. Man therefore, must know that decisions and time have link and connection. This makes us to cherish and value the promptness of time. As William Shakespeare said, “defer no time, delays have dangerous end”, it must be noted likewise that responding to God and His work of salvation for humankind must be prompt (2 Cor. 6:2) for delays have dangerous ends.

God has designed an acceptable time for the accomplishment of the salvation plan and this very day is the “day of salvation” (Isaiah 49:8). This was in reference to the year of Jubilee in Leviticus 25:10, implying that the return of the Israelites from exile will bring some restoration of land for the people as the year of Jubilee did. Consequently, God’s voice today in redemption is a time of favour and the day of salvation for whoever will accept the salvation of the Lord in all of life’s endeavors.

God wants us to be prompt and immediate in our response to the grace of redemption, “…now is the right time to listen, the day to be helped. Don’t put it off; don’t frustrate God’s work by showing up late…” (2 Cor. 6:2-3 MSG). Just as Simon de Beguvoir said, I challenge you today to “change your life today. Don’t gamble on the future, act now, without delay.” God wants you to be instant in responding to every of His invitation to you.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me not to delay in obedience to your word and dictates.
