TOPIC: “ALIGNMENT AND EXPONENTIAL REWARDS”
TEXT: Ruth 2:11-12; Jeremiah 29:11-12
MEMORY VERSE: “May the LORD, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge, reward you fully for what you have done” – Ruth 2:12.
From tragedy to providence: that one meeting of Ruth, a foreign widow, began the workings of God’s plan, unbeknownst to her, Naomi or even Boaz (Jer. 29:11-13). God’s way of rewarding diligent alignment (Heb. 11:6), is seen such that for every Ruth, there is a ‘foreman’, (Ruth 2:6-7) who God has prepared to show us favour. For every Esther there is a eunuch, Hegai (Esther 2:8-9) and for every Daniel, there is favour and goodwill prepared through the chief of the eunuchs (Daniel 1:8-9).
Ruth’s devotion and empathy for her mother-in-law, saw her decide to go and find work to support them. That action, through God’s mysterious plan, directed her to a workplace; God also preparing the foreman to hire her and fortuitously in the place of a chance meeting with a close relative for whom history of redemption and dynasty of kings will be recorded.
Alignment with God’s purpose begins with seeking Him (2 Chro. 15:2), obeying and trusting Him through prayers and His words even when we do not understand and when the waters billow over us and the storms surround us. We can be sure that He rewards our diligence and like Boaz said, God will reward us “fully”
PRAYER: Help me Lord to see You more clearly, love more dearly and to follow You more closely, so that your purpose is fulfilled in life, Amen.
