TOPIC:  “FRUIT OF DIVINE ALIGNMENT: ANSWERED PRAYERS”

TEXT: Ruth 4:1-12; 2 Chronicles 15:1-4

MEMORY VERSE: “May the LORD give you descendants by this young woman…like our ancestor Perez the son of Tamar and Judah’’ – Ruth 4:12.

There are many prophetic proclamations in the story of Ruth; despite starting her marital life in very tragic loss of her husband. When, it would appear she said in tears, “…your God will be my God’’ (Ruth 1:16), she was declaring like Prophet Azariah Oded, that she was ready to seek The God of Israel, and God in His nature was fully ready to reveal Himself to her, and answer her in her trouble (Ps. 50:15; John 16:23-24; 1 John 5:14-15).

In admiration of Ruth’s “leaving all” to come to Israel, Boaz proclaimed the blessing of Divine reward on her (Ruth 2:12). She might not have known the full import of this prophetic prayer at the time; however, in the fulness of God’s time as we read today, the public validation by a transactional, contractual “exchange of sandals”, began her betrothal in marriage once again!

Finally, let’s take a moment to ponder on the prophetic declarations of the people of the village of Ephrathah, and the depth of their prayers. The patriarchs of Israel from whence came Judah, and ultimately Perez (Matt. 1:2-5) were famous and influential citizens, who by their walk with God, had an enduring legacy like Jonathan Edwards, regarded as “The Last Puritan or God’s Intellectual” (1703-1758). Regarded as the most notable parent in American history, with the descendants of his eleven children, including thirteen college Presidents, Sixty-five professors, one hundred lawyers, sixty-six doctors etc., as far back as 1900!

Ruth had an enduring legacy in reward for her seeking the Lord even when in tears.

PRAYER: Help my faith to sing through tribulations Lord and grant me answers according to Your will, Amen.
