Topic: GLORIFY GOD
Text: Acts 13:48
Memory Verse: “Now when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord. And as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed” – Acts 13:48 (NKJV)
Sequel to yesterday’s discussion and exposition about certain responses to hearing the word as demonstrated by the gentiles (Acts. 13:48), the second way to respond to God’s word is by glorying and thanking God. Thanksgiving is a by- product of thoughtfulness. It further shows an act of genuine worship. For the Psalmist out of His experience and encounter with the word of God boldly declared, “in the middle of the night I awake to give thanks to you because of all your revelation-light; so right and true!” Psalm 119:62 (TPT).
The text of consideration today shows us in detail, the response of the gentiles who heard Paul and Barnabas speaks, “And when the Gentiles heard this, they rejoiced and glorified (praised and gave thanks for) the word of God…” Acts 13:48 (AMPC). The word of God that they heard propelled an act of praise and thanksgiving to God. For no one receives anything except it is given to him from God.
You must cultivate the lifestyle of glorifying, praising, honoring and thanking God for His word of Grace. Thanking God for His word, positions you for more (Ps. 119:108 TPT) and not doing so, puts at the risk more corruption (Rom. 1:21). Believers must always be grateful for the word of Grace just as Paul exemplified in his life and ministry (1 Cor. 1:4, Eph. 5:20, Col. 2:7). Hence, responding to God’s redemptive grace is best demonstrated through acts of continuous thanksgiving and honour.
PRAYER: Thank you Lord Jesus for the word of Grace that builds me up always. Dear Lord, help me to cultivate the lifestyle of glorifying, praising, honoring and thanking you for the revelation of your word, Amen.
