AUGUST 1: “CARRYING WHAT YOU CANNOT SEE”

DATE: Saturday 1 August  2026

TOPIC“CARRYING WHAT YOU CANNOT SEE

TEXT: Ephesians 4:31–32

MEMORY VERSE:  “And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you” Eph 4:32.

Growing up, we often carried heavy loads on the farm—cassava, yam, or firewood—trying to reduce the number of trips we had to make. It seemed wise  at first. However, after lifting the load, movement became difficult. Our steps slowed, we paused frequently on the way and sometimes, we needed help just to continue. What looked efficient at the beginning, became a burden that delayed progress and at times, led to stumbling.

Many believers live this same way spiritually.

The Christian life is not only defined by outward actions but by inward alignment with God’s nature. In Ephesians 4, Paul instructs believers to put away bitterness, wrath, anger and all forms of malice and to embrace kindness and forgiveness. This is not a suggestion, it is a call to intentional spiritual alignment.

What we carry within matters.

Unforgiveness is one of the heaviest unseen loads a person can bear. It may not be visible to others, but it affects movement—spiritual growth becomes slower, sensitivity to God reduces and joy begins to fade. What started as a moment of hurt, when held onto, becomes a weight that was never designed for the heart to carry.

God’s instruction is clear: these things must be put away. Forgiveness is not about emotional convenience; it is about obedience to God and alignment with His nature. When we refuse to let go, we choose to carry what God has already asked us to release.

Freedom begins where release begins.

Application

Take a sincere look into your heart today. Are there hurts, grudges, or offences you are still carrying? Do not justify them—release them. You cannot walk in full alignment with God while carrying what He has commanded you to put away.

PRAYER: Father, I thank You for Your forgiveness toward me in Christ. Today, I receive grace to lay aside every hidden weight of bitterness and hurt. Help me to forgive completely and walk in full alignment with Your will. From this day, I walk in freedom and spiritual clarity, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
