Topic: MAKE ROOM FOR GOD: “LORD MIGHTY IN BATTLE”
Text: PSALM 24: 7-10
Memory Verse: Joshua 5:14a; “And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the Lord am I come!”
The Lord our God is called “The Lord of Host”. He is the actual “Commander-in-Chief” of all armies – the host in Heaven, the Host in earth, and the Host underneath the earth.
For Daniel, He sent an angel to shut the mouth of the Lion. When He was done with Saul as King over Israel, He sent “an evil spirit” from His presence 1 Sam 16:14. He showed King Nebuchadnezzar His all-powerfulness when He made him to go eat grass for 7 years when Nebuchadnezzar dared the Lord. When God had to prove that He had power over fire, His beloved Shadrach, Meshack and Abednego went through fire (Dan 3)
Sometimes He gives an impression of loss of a battle in order to win a war but He never loses a war! When it seems like God is losing a battle, then He has a surprise coming up! Evidenced in Dan 3, God kept quiet while the 3 Hebrew boys were being persecuted, He did nothing while the fiery furnace was being heated but waited to show His power when the boys had been thrown into fire. By that time even the earthly King acknowledged God as the Highest.
There are battles He will fight for the Christian. In Exo 14: 13-21. Moses declared to Israel- “Stand still and watch God fight for you” There are battles He will fight with you as seen in Jos 10; While Joshua was fighting his own battle on one side, God was raining down hailstones on Joshua’s enemies from heaven on the other! There are battles however when He will fight through the Christian. In Isaiah 54:17 bible says, “No weapon fashioned against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgement thou shall condemn” The first part is His battle for the Christian, while the other means the Christian’s involvement in the battle.
Psalm 47:3 -He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet. Remember that He controls everything and that is why the Bible says that at the mention of His name, every knee will bow; of things in heaven, things on earth and things under the earth!
Christian, make room for Him today. He will fight for you, with you and also fight through you! You call on Him and He will appear as He did for Joshua so that you also will win those battles! He gave Joshua strategies of war and He will surely not hide from you the way out of the situation! With Him, you can’t lose!
Prayer; Gracious God, the Mighty man in Battle and the Lord of Host. Fight my battles for me and show your sovereignty that the world may know you as the most High God!
