Topic: “United in God’s Presence in heaven”
Text: Revelation 7:4-9
Memory Verse: Rev. 7:9 – “After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the lamb. Clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands”.
Apostle John gives an appetizing description of heaven in Revelation 21. Even though it is a pictorial depiction of it, it has always ignited within me the desire to be there. Indeed, heaven is a place that no sane human should miss. One of the beautiful experiences among others that believers will enjoy there is the unity of the brethren or the saints.
In today’s devotional text, John the apostle tells us of the unity of the innumerable number of persons gathered at the throne of God, “… of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the lamb. Clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;” (V.9). When we finally get to heaven, the Yoruba tribe will be there; the Igbo tribe will be there; the Hausa tribe will be there; people from every continent and country, the black or dark-skin coloured man or woman will be there, the white or fair-skin coloured man or woman will be there too. Language will not be a barrier at all, every tribe and kindred and people will be fully represented at the worship service before the throne of God.
Here on earth, narrow-minded people can fight and divide the church through tribalism for self-aggrandizement, but before the throne of God in heaven, there is no such diction or vocabulary as tribalism, colour, or language and so on. Before God, every believer is one before God. Oh! May we never end this journey half way. The unity, peace, beauty and perfection in heaven is second to none. Be sure to be there at last.
PRAYER: gracious Lord, it is our deepest desire to be part of this united band of worshippers in heaven at last. So help us God, Amen.
