Topic: “BEARING GOD’S PRESENCE THROUGH POSITIVE INFLUENCE –
LEADERS ARISE”

Text: 1 Peter 5:1-11

Memory Verse: 1 Corinthians 4:2 – “Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful”.

“Leadership is influence, nothing more, nothing less. (John Maxwell). Who is a Leader? A Leader could be described as the one in charge of others, influencing them to follow. If we take this simplistic description, then we could easily infer that everyone is a Leader. The older sibling is leading the younger sibling. Parents are leading their children. Teachers are leading their students.

Pastors are leading their congregation. Bosses are leading their subordinates, and the list goes on. Each one of us can locate himself or herself.

The area of concern for us today is: “How am I leading those that I am leading?” Our memory verse encourages us to consider the question well, as a steward, we are expected to be faithful, bearing in mind that we will one day give account to the Master.

One who bears God’s presence is able to exercise positive influence on those he is leading. We understand that we are saved by grace, not by anything we did, so there is no reason to boast. (Ephesians 2:8 & 9) Therefore, we do our leading heartily as unto the Lord. (Colossians 3:23)

PRAYER: Dear Lord, in thought, in word, in deed, may I be found pleasing in Your sight.
