Topic: “FAITH IS THE VICTORY”
Text: Psalm 18:1-6
Memory Verse: “I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies” – Psalm 18:3
In this Psalm of thanksgiving, David testifies of what His faith in God, expressed in his prayer produced for him, namely, that it saved him from his enemies. Faith in God gave him the victory. As someone who spent years on the run, hiding in caves, David understood by experience that he could hide in the shadow of God’s love and strength than on anyone or anything else – Psalm 115:11; 119:114. David remembered God’s promises and that God cannot lie, and believed in both God and in His word. He trusted in God to be with him and give him strength to combat every foe coming against him from anywhere. He trusted God to give him courage to weather the storms of life, and God did not fail him. It was not David’s skill in battle, knowledge, influence, wealth, or physical abilities that made him confident and strong, rather, it was his faith in God and in His power to subdue all other powers. That courage and strength from the Lord gave him the ability to resist temptation, persist through all heartache, pain, and difficulty, and to do all that God asked of him.
God never promised a smooth or painless life to His people. Even Jesus acknowledged the reality of trouble in this life and asked us to be of good cheer and face it in the strength that He supplies by His victory over all challenges – John 16:33. As you go through these reflections on God’s word, you must put your faith in God and absolutely depend on Him to help you navigate every trouble that comes your way, because faith in God is your sure path to victory. As you prioritize the strength that God supplies, you will never be disappointed or left helpless.
Prayer: Lord, Abraham believed you and it was credited to him as righteousness. Help me to put my trust in and believe you against all odds. Let your faith in me be my victory indeed. Amen.
