AUGUST 31: “DO NOT STAY ANGRY”

DATE: Monday 31 August  2026

TOPIC:  “DO NOT STAY ANGRY”

TEXT: Ephesians 4:26–27

MEMORY VERSE:  “Be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.” – James 1:19

Anger itself is not the enemy. It is a normal emotion that often signals hurt, injustice, frustration, or disappointment.

The danger lies in unmanaged anger.

When anger is ignored or fed, it can grow into bitterness, harsh words, damaged relationships and poor decisions.

That is why Scripture says, “Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry.” In other words, deal with anger promptly and wisely.

Do not store it. Do not nurse it. Do not weaponize it.

Healthy ways to process anger include:
pause before reacting
identify the deeper hurt beneath it
speak honestly without aggression
forgive where applicable
seek peace quickly
pray before responding

Jesus invites us to learn from Him, for He is gentle and humble in heart. Matthew 11:29-30.

Today’s Reflection:
What unresolved anger have you been carrying?

Today’s Action:
Take one step toward peace to pray, reflect, communicate calmly, or forgive.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to handle anger wisely. Heal the hurts beneath it and keep bitterness from taking root. Teach me gentleness, wisdom and peace, Amen.
