Topic: THE BIRTH OF JESUS: LESSON ON HUMILITY AND OBEDIENCE –

Text: Luke 2: 1-20
Memory Verse: and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them (Luke 2:7 NIV)
Access to royalties, heads of governments and States, religious leaders, persons in authority and VIPs involve protocols that might include securing appointments, security checks, acquisition of cultural paraphernalia, special attire, engagement of lobbyists and connections to succeed. Details of their health conditions and circumstances surrounding their birth and those of their children, who are royalties and dignitaries by birth will be closely guarded secrets known to very few individuals and engaged health professionals.
Through prophesy, Isaiah 9: 6 foretold of the most significant birth in human history – “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders; And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this”.
700 years later in actualizing this most significant event, the simplicity and humility of God the Father and Creator of the universe is exemplified and leaves us in absolute awe! No room was available to house the parents, no hospital to attend to Mary (God in His divine wisdom apparently removed all claims or influences that men may lay on the process). No bed or baby cot, but a manger (ordinary un-sanitized feed trough for animals). His first visitors were the group of shepherds, to whom God had sent an Angel to break this news of global importance – they had access without any protocols, security guards or worldly fanfare. God in His wisdom simplified access to the son Jesus so that not only notable men, but everyone can have access to him.
Consider this:
What things in my life am I holding so sacred and important that I think the world should not be privy or have access to? Know this, the value attached to a thing are the services or blessings that humanity derives from it or will pay for. Everything that belongs to only me is “valueless”!
Prayer: Precious Lord, please help me freely share the gifts and blessings you have given me in service to men to win souls for your kingdom.
