Topic: “THE BLESSINGS OF CHRISTMAS: GOD’S LOVE-LANGUAGE TO MANKIND“
Text: John 3:1-16
Memory Verse: “For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believe in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” – John 3:16.
Christmas is the embodiment of God’s love-language to mankind, by showcasing his everlasting affection through the gift of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. This divine gesture speaks volume of the Creator – God’s character in revealing His desire for a personal relationship with mankind.
There are major aspects of God’s love that we need to examine here:
- Unconditional love: God demonstrates His love by sending the Lord Jesus to redeem man while we were still sinners – Rom 5:8.
- Sacrificial love: Jesus’ birth represents God’s ultimate sacrifice, offering eternal life to all those who believe – John 3:16.
- Transformative love: God’s love has the power to change lives, turning a criminal stony heart to a yearning heart of flesh. This brings hope, peace and joy to all those who embrace him – I Thess. 3:12.
In the Christmas narrative, the Holy Bible emphasizes the importance of love. Jesus while on earth, taught us as believers to love one another as He has loved us. John 15:12. Apostle Paul also reiterates that we should walk in love just as Christ loves us – Eph. 6:2.
May the blessings of Christmas fill our hearts with joy, peace and love; continually reminding us of God’s unwavering and passionate commitment to mankind.
PRAYER: Your love O Lord is unfathomable. So high, so deep and so wide! So strong that you gave us your one and only Son, the Lord Jesus. We are eternally grateful in Jesus’ name, Amen.
