FEBRUARY 14: “Building Intimacy in Prayer: Persistent Widow’s Model “

Justice has become the order of the day in our world today. To get Justice, you sometimes have to know somebody. Because those who pervert justice have put many barriers to prevent genuine people from receiving or experiencing justice. The widow in our text today, knew that the system would not guarantee her justice, she had no one to fight for her, but she leveraged her intimate relationship with Jesus and used it to petition the one who brings about justice on the earth.

The text for today is teaching us that we as Christians, should never give up. The Lord is showing us through this parable, the importance of persistence and resilience. The widow in this parable functions as a model for intimacy cultivated over time concerning persistent prayer. She goes before the unjust judge with her petition over and over, not taking no for an answer. She was resilient and she was faithful to what she believed in. She was persistent in her pursuit of justice.

Resilience manifests itself individually and collectively. When we talk about being resilient and having the strength of character not to give up, being resilient can be done individually by encouraging yourself. You can find it within yourself to keep going, even when it seems that all odds are stacked against you. As you step out today, refuse to give up, and leverage the relationships around you to get those things that you need done in your life. Remember that resilience is more than something you do; it is who you are. Stand strong and enjoy the grace of God as you do your activities today.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, we thank you that you are a God of justice, we do ask today, that you step into our situation and remove all injustice and help us to be relentless in our pursuit of justice in Jesus’ name.
