Topic: “GOD’S CARE AND PROTECTION FOR HIS OWN“
Text: Genesis 6:13-7:16
Memory Verse: “So make for yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out” – Genesis 6:14.
The testimony of the deliverance of Noah and his immediate family from the destructive flood that God brought upon the wicked generation Noah lived in, shows the Justice of God, His divine care and protection for those who belong to Him and are in alignment with His character and purpose. Though God’s anger burnt against that generation for their rebellion and unrighteousness, yet His heart was soft towards Noah, who was said to have found favour with God because he lived a life of righteousness and was blameless.
God told Noah what he was about to do to the wicked, but He also told him that provision had been made for him and his family to be cared for and be protected throughout the period of the destructive flood. God instructed Noah to build an ark of cypress wood, giving him details of what to use in building the Ark and how. This Ark was to house Noah and his family during the flood to keep them from suffering the consequences of sin. The soul that sinneth, it shall die.
Through the Ark, God showed His care for Noah and his family; He asked them to take with them into the Ark, all that was necessary for their comfort while the flood subsisted. Through it also, God protected Noah and his family from the calamity that all others suffered in the flood. Much more than an ark is Jesus, the redemptive lamb of God by whom He has shown us the highest level of care and by whom we are kept safe from the consequences of sin. We come into the full benefit of these as we yield ourselves to Him and totally align with Him. See Prov 18:10; Isa 25:4-6; Mark 6:30-44; John 6:35; 10:27-29.
PRAYER: Lord, as I journey into this year with you, let me enjoy the full benefits of your provision, care, and protection, Amen.
