JANUARY 12: “TRUST GOD FOR THE SEEMINGLY IMPOSSIBLE”

Topic:  “TRUST GOD FOR THE SEEMINGLY IMPOSSIBLE“

Text: Genesis 6:14-16,19-21

Memory Verse:  “On that very day Noah and his sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, together with his wife, and the wives of his three sons, entered the ark” – Genesis 7:13.

In the journey of life, we come face to face with challenges that look so overwhelming or even impossible, given our capacity and resources. At times like that, we wonder where to find a lifeline or a way out. In our text for today, God gives Noah the enormous task of building a huge Ark that would withstand an impending flood that would fill the earth. Noah is also saddled with the added task of filling the ark with enough living creatures to keep all the species alive (Genesis 6:19; 7:2). The task that God gave to Noah was so huge that it was to take up to a hundred years to complete. However, God also gives him detailed instructions on how to build the Ark, what materials to use, the different specific dimensions and all that God expects of him.

Yes, though the task seemed impossible, but God did not leave him to undertake it by himself. He helped Noah to accomplish the task, making the seemingly impossible, possible.

One thing that stands out concerning God’s assignments in our lives is that He does not expect us to execute them only in our natural strength or limited resources. He gets involved with us and gives us all that we would need to accomplish His tasks. That is why it is said that nothing is impossible with Him. Noah must have seen the task as being too huge for his ability, but he did not refuse it, instead he trusted God to help him.

As you seek to align with God this year, you need to develop that level of trust in Him because He will come to you with seemingly impossible tasks for which you will have to absolutely depend on Him to accomplish. Do not be in a hurry to say no to Him, rather, like Mary the mother of Jesus and Noah, accept the challenge and invite Him to help you. See Isa 6:8; Luke 1:38; Mark 9:23; Phil 4:13.

Noah trusted God to help him and it was so; he completed the task of building that Ark and did all other things the Lord had asked him to do one step at a time. He took small steps of obedience to the instructions of God until everything was completely done and God was pleased with him. Note that taking such small steps of obedience to God in your life can result in great outcomes.

PRAYER: Ask God to increase your faith and help you open up to any task He may wish to give to you, Amen.
