JANUARY 14: “CELEBRATING GOD’S GOODNESS”

JANUARY 14, 2026

Topic:  “CELEBRATING GOD’S GOODNESS“

Text: Genesis 8:20-22

Memory Verse:  “Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings on it” – Genesis 8:20.

A man in complete alignment with God is a worshipper anytime. He sees God and His goodness in everything that happens to Him. Noah saw God from the beginning to the end of the whole flood experience and must have thought of how much God had favored him and his family having been spared from all the calamity that came upon the entire rebellious generation of his day. One can only imagine how Noah and his family felt, coming out of the ark and looking far and near, north, south, east, and west and not seeing anything or anyone else on the face of the earth.

Imagine the quietness, the clean air they breathed in, the somewhat solemn and gentle breeze that blew, the beautiful atmosphere, the scintillating warmth that came from the early morning sun, and most excitingly the strong reassuring presence of God with them at that time. These would certainly have left so much of mixed feelings but yet with inexpressible gratitude and awe in Noah, so much that he only returned to God in a heart-consuming worship. It was a thanksgiving worship to God for the extra ordinary miracle of deliverance, redemption and resettlement.

Noah gave God first place in his heart and life as he came into the new world by the mercies of God. He demonstrated this by first building an altar of worship to the Lord where he fully expressed his appreciation and worship. All the material gifts he gave as burnt offerings to the Lord on that altar were symbols of his heart-consumed worship to God. He gave to God what God Himself had given to him.

In this first month of a new year, would you reflect deeply on the deliverances, mercies, kindness, favor, provisions and other blessings that God has bestowed on you as He brought you safely across 2025 in the year 2026. Would you consider building Him an altar of worship and sacrifice “burnt offerings” on it  just as you begin to enjoy the breath of a new beginning. Let Noah’s example inspires you.

PRAYER: Lord, I come before you today and there is just one thing I want to do and that is to worship you with my Praise and thanksgiving from the depth of my heart. I say it again, thank you Lord, Amen.
