JANUARY 22: “SEEING THROUGH GOD’S EYES”

As we continue our learning from the life of Abraham, we have seen how Abraham paid the cost and how he entered a covenant of alignment with God. Today, we see from our text that Abraham just experienced a difficult trial. He and Lot had just parted company. Abraham’s nephew Lot had chosen the Jordan valley and it looked like he (Abraham) had picked the barren rocky area of the land.

During such a time, the devil will come with all kinds of evil thoughts. “It does not pay to be gracious. He gets the Garden of Eden; you get this rock pile.” The devil will make you look like you are a loser when you are aligning to do the will of God.

It was in the midst of this that the Lord came to Abraham and said to him, vs.14-15 “Look around from where you are, to the north and south, to the east and west. All the land that you see, I will give to you and your offspring[s] forever.” Like Abraham, our problem many times is our short-sightedness. We get so involved in our situations, we cannot see beyond them. The Lord God had to open our eyes so we can see things from His own perspective.

As you step out today, what is the lord saying to you today? When you feel discouraged, feel like God does not care about you… Look to the heavens. When you fear the future… Look to the heavens. When you feel all alone, look at the heavens. Look at the heavens and remember that the Lord is everlasting, He is the creator, He never grows tired or weary. Remember that God reveals visions when we align.

PRAYER: Our Father, we thank you for always looking out for us, helping us like Abraham to see things from your perspective. Help us to close our ears to the evil suggestions of the devil and empower us to align to your will by obeying you when you say lift your eyes, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
