JANUARY 25: THE MANIFESTATION OF GOD’S PRESENCE IN THE PLACE OF PRAYER

Zechariah and Elizabeth were godly people and a family of priests. However, the Bible says they were barren. This condition usually brings with it disgrace and discouragement but amid it all, they did not give up on God, they kept praying and they kept worshipping and working for God. Whenever we are dealing with a crisis, or a sickness in our own life, it is not because God is punishing us, it is just an opportunity for God to manifest His presence in our situation.

In the case of Zechariah and Elizabeth, the Lord waited until it was an opportune time of prayer in the temple, then the Lord showed up, “an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing to the right of the altar of incense.” One truth we are to learn today is that God is behind all coincidences. The lot falling to Zacharias was a way of the Lord saying I am ready to turn things around. Then “the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard …” As we come to the place of prayer, it is not only the person talking to God, but also God is speaking back to us. In this case, the Lord spoke and gave a word of assurance “your prayers are answered”.

As you step out today, know that God is a prayer answering God and promise keeper. No matter what we are going through today, we have an assurance that “weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” (Psalm 30:5). We need to keep serving Him, and never give up in our prayers, because soon, He will manifest His presence in our lives.

Prayer: Our Father, we thank you that you are always watching out forus. Help us never to give up, help us to hold on until you come to change our story, in Jesus’ name.
