JANUARY 27: CEPHAS AND THE MANIFESTATION OF GOD’S PRESENCE

There are many reasons the Lord manifests His presence to individuals, a group of people or a family. Sometimes, it is to warn them, at other times to direct them, and sometimes, it is to give them an assignment. In Chapter 15, the apostle gave us a review of the evidence of people whom the Lord appeared to. In our text for today, Paul gave us an account of how the Lord appeared to Peter who is also called Cephas.

We do not know when and where exactly our Lord appeared to Peter. However, it was at a time when he was hurting after he had denied Jesus three times. He was at this time heartbroken, disappointed, discouraged and dispirited. This was a situation in which no one could help Peter and no one could understand what he was going through. To change Peter’s situation, the Lord Himself had to step in to help him to heal him and get him to take hold of his calling again.

I do not know what you are going through today; maybe you are in such a situation like Peter. Some things that no one around you can understand. Remember that the Lord knows and sees what you are going through. The appearance of Jesus to Peter was not just to convince him that He is alive, but to reconnect him to the possibilities ahead of him. Today, expect the Lord to intervene and help you out of the dispiritedness and discouragement that you are going through.

Prayer: Our Father, we thank you that you are always looking out focus to save us and deliver us from our guilts and even when we deny you, you do not. Lord today, we do pray that you will come again to heal us and deliver us, so we can take hold of the possibilities that we have in you, in Jesus’name.
