JULY 15: WE BEAR GOD’S PRESENCE

Topic: WE BEAR GOD’S PRESENCE

Text: Act 10:1 -46

Memory Verse: Psalms 16:11 – “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures for evermore”.

It is pertinent to note that it is not everyone that can bear God’s presence and that is a factual statement. God visited Cornelius in Acts 10 and told him to send for Peter who should come to him and introduce the person of the Lord Jesus Christ to him. The Holy Bible bears witness that he was a good person, yet from this account, it became obvious that Cornelius, as with every human, needed the saving grace that comes from the redeeming blood of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. For a person to enjoy the abiding presence of God, it begins in the place of salvation.

To bear is to carry. For example, in the days of Moses, the Levites carried the Ark of the Covenant, which was a representation of God’s presence. Unlike in the days of Moses, the true believer carries (bears) the presence of God. The true believer should learn to carry the presence of God everywhere they go. This entails avoiding circumstances of sinful compromise Romans 6:13.

How can the believer do this?
Recognize yourself as a child of God and respond to God’s divine appointments e.g. personal times with the Lord in prayer and study of His Word. Do not neglect fellowship with God’s people.
Release God’s Word and plan into your sphere of influence by standing always on the Word of God like the Hebrew boys.
Make Jesus irresistible to unbelievers, especially hardened hearts.
Be conscious and ready to partner with the Holy Spirit to release miracles and His divine plan to existence.

May the Lord enable us to bear His presence, unblemished and blameless before Him all the days of our lives, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

PRAYER: Righteous Lord, as I have learned what it means to bear your presence, please enable me to walk in righteousness. Let my actions and heart bear witness to the cleansing power of your salvation, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
