TOPIC: “EYES ON THE TRACK”
TEXT: Hebrews 12:1–6
MEMORY VERSE: “Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” – Hebrews 12:2.
Focus is the discipline that sustains momentum. In a race, even the strongest runner will lose rhythm if their attention shifts. It is not always a lack of strength that slows people down; it is divided focus. Distractions drain energy, scatter intention and eventually pull you off course.
The Christian race is no different. You are surrounded by voices, opinions and visible lives that can easily become reference points if you are not careful. Yet, Scripture is intentional in its instruction: fix your eyes on Jesus. Not occasionally glance, not partially consider; fix your gaze. Make Him your constant point of alignment.
Jesus is not just the destination, He is the model. His life shows you how to endure, how to stay obedient and how to remain anchored in purpose regardless of pressure. When your eyes are on Him, your pace becomes steady; not rushed by comparison, not slowed by discouragement, but aligned with divine timing.
Distractions do not always look like sin; sometimes they look like good things that pull your attention away from the best thing. Every time your focus shifts from Christ to people, outcomes, or applause, your stride becomes unstable.
Running well requires intentional sight. You must train your eyes daily, through the Word, through prayer, through quiet moments of realignment, to return to Jesus again and again.
Today, bring your focus back. Refuse to be pulled in multiple directions. There is a race marked out for you and it can only be run effectively when your eyes remain fixed on the One who designed it.
PRAYER: Jesus, train my eyes to stay on You so I can run my race well. Strengthen my focus, remove distractions and align my pace with Your perfect will, Amen.
