Topic: Blessing of God’s Presence 2
Text: Reading: Psalm 24: 3-6
Memory Verse: “They will receive blessing from the LORD and vindication from God their Saviour. Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek your face, God of Jacob”. Ps. 24: 5-6 NIV
As we continue in our study on the blessing of God’s presence, we need to realize that God knows and cares about the moral behaviour of us, His children. He rewards those who honour Him with their lives. This blessing may be understood sometimes in rewards that God grants to the obedient; Heb. 11:6 declares that “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him”. Perhaps we can refer to Obed-Edom, in whose house the Ark had been lodged, and on whom God had poured out special blessings (2 Sam. 6:10-12).
It is worthy of note that those who serve the God of Jacob are identified as God’s covenant people (God introduced Himself to Moses in Exod. 3:6 as the God of his fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob). This is due to the covenant God had with Abraham, his descendants, and generations to come (Gen, 17:7). We are descendants of Abraham through Jesus Christ through faith hence, through Jesus Christ, the blessed and righteous ones have entered into covenant with God and not only that, but we are also to pursue Him with a continual seeking from one generation to another.
Are we ready to leave a godly legacy behind for our younger generations? How are you working at it?
Prayer: Holy God from Whom all blessings flow, let my love for You grow deeper each day as I seek Your face daily.
