JULY 22: “THE WORTH TRAP”

DATE: Wednesday 22 July  2026

TOPIC“THE WORTH TRAP

TEXT: Colossians 3:1-4

MEMORY VERSE:  “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God” – Colossians 3:2.

There is a subtle trap in tying your worth to validation. When approval becomes your measuring stick, your sense of identity rises and falls with opinions, applause and attention. One moment you feel confident, the next you feel unseen; all based on responses that were never meant to define you.

The problem with external validation is its instability. It fluctuates. It is inconsistent and when your identity depends on something so unpredictable, your emotions become just as unstable. You begin to perform for acceptance rather than live from a place of assurance.

Scripture calls you higher: set your heart on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. This is an invitation to shift your source of worth. Your identity is not rooted in how people perceive you, but in how God sees you. His opinion is not influenced by trends, numbers, or public recognition; it is constant, secure and unchanging.

When your mind is anchored in eternal truth, you become steady. You no longer chase validation; you walk in conviction. You are free to serve, create and live without the pressure of proving yourself because you already know who you are in God.

Today, examine what has been defining your worth. Gently release it. Return to truth. Let God’s voice be louder than every other voice competing for your attention.

are not what people say; you are who God has declared.

PRAYER: God, anchor my identity in You alone. Help me to find my worth in Your truth and remain steady, regardless of external validation, Amen.
